Florence Welch has teased she'll appear on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour after collaborating with the American artist on The Tortured Poets Department.

The British singer, 37, and her band Florence & The Machine appear on the track Florida!!! and she spoke about their collaboration in a chat with British Vogue.

When asked if she would appear on Taylor's upcoming London dates of her tour, Florence teased: 'If I was gonna do it, it would be a surprise.'

She also revealed that Taylor had approached her with 'a concept and a story' for the song, which is Florence's 'favourite way to start songwriting'.

Florence added: 'I almost didn't think of the scale of it. There's the sort of bigness of [Taylor Swift the phenomenon], and then there's the Taylor I spend time with in the studio, who is just the sweetest and most down to earth.'

Florence continued: 'We had such a fun time. And then when it came out I was like, "Oh, s**t!"'

Elsewhere in the interview, Florence revealed she will make her BBC Proms debut in the forthcoming season as she returns to the stage following a work break.

The singer had been enjoying the 'hibernation period' after her Dance Fever tour drew to an earlier-than-expected close last summer.

She explained: 'There's always a period where I'm like, okay, I'm not singing! I'm not doing shows for a while.'

But Florence will now resurrect her 2009 album Lungs with the backing of an orchestra at London's Royal Albert Hall, in what will be her only live UK gig this year.

She added: 'When [the invitation] came in, they were like, "We know you're off, but would you…?" and I was like, "Yes!"'

Florence added she is 'honoured' and 'excited' to perform at such a 'special' event this year.

The BBC Proms is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events.

The expansive programme from July 19 to September 14 will feature 90 concerts in total – 73 taking place at the home of the festival, London’s Royal Albert Hall and 17 hosted at venues across the UK.

Sam Smith has also been announced to perform at the Proms this year - and the BBC have insisted that their show will be 'entirely appropriate for the festival'.

The singer, 31, has put on a series of controversial shows in recent years and is often seen wearing risqué and sexualised outfits on stage.

Sam announced they were non-binary in 2019 and asked people use they/them pronoun when being referred to.

They will headline a BBC Prom concert this year on August 2 in an expansion of the pop programme.

Florence took to the stage in Lisbon in September 2023 for her first performance since revealing her had been forced to undergo life-saving surgery.

After cancelling a string of gigs due to the hospital visit, the British singer appeared overjoyed to be back in front an audience at the Meo Kalorama Festival.

Florence belted out her most famous hits and showcased her dance moves as her long auburn flocks swung freely.

Florence admitted that she is 'not yet strong enough' to detail her ordeal, but assured her followers that she would be back performing at her Lisbon gig.

The You've Got The Love hitmaker cryptically added that she wished the songs she has been performing on her Dance Fever tour 'were less accurate in their prediction'.

It comes after Florence admitted she was 'heartbroken' as she postponed her Dance Fever tour after breaking her foot during a performance at London's O2 Arena.

The singer said at the time: 'I'm so sorry to say that after an X ray it seems I was dancing on a broken foot last night.

'It is not in my nature to postpone a show, and certainly not a UK tour, but I'm in pain and as dancers know, dancing on an injury is not a good idea. And have been told not to perform to avoid further damage.

'Please hang on to your tickets. We are working our hardest to reschedule these dates for next year and we will let you know as soon as possible.

'I'm heartbroken as the Dance Fever tour has been my favourite show we have ever put on. The communion with you. Your beautiful faces shining.

'I love you so much, and I'm so sorry to anyone who is disappointed. My heart is aching.

'I can't wait to be back on my feet and back in your arms.'
