Project Mule Deer

West Valley Students were involved with Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department and the study of why Mule Deer populations are declining in Eastern Washington.

Students went on field trips to collect vegetation and fecal samples, and nature map the area. They also had the opportunity to participate on captures. While on the captures students assisted biologists and veterinarians by keeping the deer calm. Once information was collected students returned to their classrooms to process the information. This was an extremely successful service learning project for the students at the Center.
